Adele held an emotional debut on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury on Saturday.

The singer’s performance was the most anticipated of the weekend and the crowds stretched back as far as the eye could see.

Singing her hit Hello, the 28-year-old exchanged the words of the song to “I’m at Glastonbury dreaming about who I used to be”.

Most of the crowd was in unison singing as Adele launched into the chorus with flares illuminating the sky.

“You’re f***** amazing,” she shouted at the crowd, before running up and down the stage to wave at fans.

“This is mad. I’m going straight into another one, my darlings, I don’t know what to say to you,” she said, before launching into Rumour Has It.

Later, the singer described her appearance at Glastonbury as “the best f***ing moment of my whole life”.

“Glastonbury means the world to me, I’m not just lying, I have always wanted to do this my whole life. I’ve been coming since I was your age,” she added.

During her set she paid tribute to festival organiser Michael Eavis, saying “thanks for having me, Sir”.

Adele’s last performance at Glastonbury was in 2007 when she was yet to release a record.
